My name is Set Free and I'm from Queens NYC. I grew up under some of Hip-Hops greatest groups like Run DMC, De La Soul and Stetsasonic. I started DJing at a young age and I got my fist record deal in 1997 under Tommy Boy records. I produced my first record "Wild West" by Deadly Snakes in 1998 which got placed on the first Jet Lee movie in America, Black Mask. I then went on to work for AND 1 basketball and became the Director of Entertainment Marketing. This is when I came up with the AND 1 mixtape and the rest was history.
HOW DID YOU FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU WANTED TO DO FOR YOUR CAREER?
When I was growing up in Queens and I saw how influential Hip-Hop was to the youth, from that moment on I was like I have to be involved in this culture.
MY BIGGEST BREAK WAS…
Coming up under Prince Paul, being able to be around him in the early days of hip-hop was priceless. Learning from him, watch him create with the Gravediggaz and working with him on numerous projects is something I can’t begin to explain.
TELL OUR READERS WHAT YOU'RE MOST KNOWN FOR
I am most know for creating the AND 1 mixtapes and doing marketing for various brands like Nike, Vans and EA Sports . I also work with a lot of artist in the hip-hop industry on various things from production to marketing and even directing music videos.
WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE MOMENTS, ACCOMPLISHMENTS OR AWARDS SO FAR IN YOUR CAREER?
One of my favorite moments was when working in the entertainment industry took me to Africa. I was chosen to attend the South African Film Festival with Chris Robinson and Morgan Freeman for my music coordinator role on the Warner Brother pictures ATL.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I am inspired by cartoons, toys and movies. It really helps me to think out of the box when I put my mind in a place of make believe.

I think I would be some type of preacher of some sort. I like just trying to stay positive and helping others. I feel when you spread good energy, it comes back 10 times greater
